The decision of building the permanent office of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Co-operation) in Dhaka has been finalized. Since May of this year, the department will begin its activities.
Foreign Minister Shahriar Alam said this in a press release on Monday in Foreign Ministry.
According to release, a memorial will be signed in the third conference of the high level of BIMSTEC on Tuesday. On Monday, after the 14th ministerial meeting in Myanmar capital Ney P Tai, Foreign Minister said this. Foreign Minister Shahriar Alam led the meeting.
On Tuesday, the high-level conference will be led by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in Ney P Tai.
In earlier Monday morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached in Myanmar to join in the summit.
Since its establishment in 1997, BIMSTEC’s first conference was held in Bangkok in 2004, and the second conference was held in New Delhi in 2008.
The organization consists of South Asian and South-East Asian seven countries; Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
